Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Soccotra uses cookies and similar browser storage on the Website, what is stored on your device, and how you can control it. Soccotra is a small studio based in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The Website is deliberately simple. We do not run analytics, we do not advertise, and we do not track visitors across other websites.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Local storage is a related browser feature that lets a website save a small amount of data in your browser without sending it back to the server with every request. Both can be inspected and deleted from your browser settings.

What we store

We store two entries in your browser’s local storage, and each one is written only when you take the action it records.

• “cookie_consent”: written when you answer the cookie banner. It holds the value “accepted” or “declined”, and its only purpose is to remember your answer so that the banner does not appear again on your next visit.
• “language”: written when you choose a language from the language switcher. It holds the code of the language you picked, so that the Website opens in that language on your next visit.

Neither entry identifies you, and neither is sent to us. Both stay in your browser until you clear them, or clear the storage for this site.

What we do not use

We do not use analytics or measurement cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no tag manager and no other analytics tool on the Website.

We do not use advertising, remarketing or marketing cookies, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

We do not embed social media sharing buttons, like buttons, maps or other third party widgets that would set cookies from another site.

The Website has no user accounts, no login and no online payments, so no cookies are set for any of those purposes.

Third party services

Services that help deliver the Website may set what they need in your browser for their own limited purpose.

• Cloudflare Turnstile: we use Turnstile on our contact form to check that a submission comes from a person rather than an automated script. It runs only on the page that contains the form and may set cookies or use browser storage in order to work. Your IP address is sent to Cloudflare as part of that check.
• Our hosting provider: the servers that deliver the Website may set cookies and record standard technical information such as your IP address in order to serve pages, keep the site available and protect it from abuse.

What you send through our forms is handled away from your browser, so it places nothing on your device. It goes to two places.

• A database provided by Supabase, which holds messages sent through the contact form and addresses given to the newsletter form.
• Discord, through a webhook that notifies us of a new submission. For the contact form, that notification repeats what you sent, including your name, email address, company, project type, budget, timeline and the text of your message. For the newsletter form, it contains the email address you gave.

Our Privacy Policy describes why we hold that information and how long we keep it.

How you can manage cookies and local storage

Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and local storage through their settings, including an option to clear everything a single site has stored. Browser manufacturers provide help pages explaining how this works in their own products, and those pages are the most reliable guide, because the controls differ between browsers and change between versions.

If you clear the “cookie_consent” entry, the banner will appear again on your next visit. If you clear the “language” entry, the Website will go back to choosing a language from your browser’s own language settings, falling back to English.

Blocking storage for the Website will not stop you from reading it. It may affect the contact form, because the Turnstile check has to run before a message can be sent.

Your choices

The banner records nothing beyond your answer, and the language switcher records nothing beyond the language you picked. Because no analytics, advertising or tracking technology runs on the Website, declining switches nothing off and accepting switches nothing on. You can change your answer at any time by clearing the “cookie_consent” entry, or all storage for this site, in your browser.

We do not treat continued use of the Website as agreement to anything beyond what is described in this policy.

Changes To Our Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy if the Website changes or if the law requires it. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. If we start using cookies or similar technologies for a new purpose, we will update this policy first.
